What To Expect: Structural Energetic Therapy® (SET)

I want to make sure all new patients feel welcome, safe and taken care of. During your first Structural Energetic Therapy® visit, I will ask you to fill out a health history and consent form. (To save time you may want to fill out the form in advance and bring it with you. Patient History FormPatient Consent Form.)

This will give me a starting point to help plan your session and alert me to any medical issues I may need to be aware of. Please be advised that certain medications or conditions are contraindicated for this work and could be harmful, so please be honest and detailed in your health history. You may contact me prior to your session if you are unsure.

I will take some time with you and discuss your objectives for the session. I will do a postural assessment to see what areas of restriction may be contributing to your discomfort or tension. I will also do some kinesiology testing to help identify structural collapses.

Your treatment will then begin with cranial-structural therapy to initiate the unwinding process and the release of your body’s myofascial holding patterns. This often releases enough tension to noticeably reduce spasms and pain, preparing the rest of the body for more extensive work.

Following the cranial releases, I will then address the myofascial tissue to begin releasing the holding patterns that contribute to the distortions in the body by using very specific techniques. There may be some slight discomfort when addressing specific areas that contribute to structural collapses, so I encourage you to speak up if you feel any discomfort. You should always be able to breathe comfortably, even when I am working deeply.

What To Wear: Structural Energetic Therapy® (SET)

All (SET) patients should bring something they are comfortable standing in for postural assessment that will allow me to see areas of restriction in the body.

Women: a 2 piece swim suit, sports bra/shorts or something similar.

Men: shorts, swim suit or something similar.

Men: shorts, swim suit or something similar.

**For both men and women, it is difficult to effectively work with long shorts that come to mid thigh or knee. To make the most of your sessions, it is best if they are short and non restrictive.

Professionalism and respect will always be maintained during your sessions. My goal is to help you live a more active, pain-free life.

Integrative Massage

What to Expect: Integrative Massage

You will be asked to complete a Health History form, which will help determine your health and wellness goals. The benefits of massage are cumulative, so I will work with you to customize a plan to meet your goals. Each session will be customized based on our discussion and this may include a full body massage or specific areas of restriction using a variety of techniques and may also include stretching and education. You should always be comfortable during your session, so if for some reason you are not, please let me know.

* It is a good idea to inform me prior to your session if you have any allergies or sensitivities to oils or lotions.

What to Wear: Integrative Massage

Undress to your comfort level. Your body will be covered with a blanket and sheet except for the area being massaged. Wearing shorts for your session is a good idea if you would like to incorporate stretching.
